BASKET CASE (1982)
Horror melodrama in which a young man shows up in the big city with a secret murderous agenda and a basket he won’t open for anyone. But he talks to his basket as if his closest friend is inside.
This is another one of the greatest reveals in movies. The mystery is incredible and the reveal is too creative and horrible to be imagined. And once you know what’s going on, this becomes an incredibly sad and moving story, a great example of tearjerker horror. Though this one is quite low-budget and campy, I find the special effects more beautiful and expressive than most.
