THE MUPPET MOVIE (1979)
Musical comedy in which Kermit the frog leaves the swamp to head for Hollywood. He finds a number of other wonderful showbusiness friends on the way, but learns that show-business has a dark side when the villainous Doc Hopper (Charles Durning) and his sidekick (Austin Pendleton) start harassing and threatening Kermit to convince him to star in their commercials for Frogs’ Legs.
This is one of the better movies about the pursuit of an artistic life— it’s incredibly cathartic and moving while being very cute and funny and also very brutal and scary and thrilling. And the music is ridiculously beautiful.
