THE LORD OF THE FLIES (1963)
Horror melodrama telling the story of a few dozen wealthy British boarding school children who, after a plane crash, end up unsupervised on a deserted island. The children figure out how to survive on their own, but soon revert to horrifying, savage behaviors.
This movie is so brutal and scary, and with all child actors! The ensemble cast is wonderful, and the movie has a beauty and elegance and meaning rare in horror movies. Watching this, it makes sense that Peter Brook is most famous for directing Shakespeare.
