PARADISE LOST: THE CHILD MURDERS AT ROBIN HOOD (1996)
Unbelievably upsetting documentary about the trial surrounding the murder of several children in a small southern town. The townspeople insist that the murders were motivated by Satanism and accuse the town’s Goth teenagers. We watch helplessly as the obviously innocent Goth teenagers go on trial for their lives.
This is one of the better documentaries ever, but be warned that this movie is unbelievably despairing. Yet, the portrayal here of the world as entirely sadistic and unjust resonates with many of my darkest feelings. I watch this movie and think, “Yes, that’s how it is. How can the world be so horrible?” This might be good to watch in your most despairing moments.
